The largest island in Lofoten, Vestvågøy’s widely varied landscapes offer a little of everything. White sand beaches, fairytale mountains, lush farmland, mountain passes with stunning views, and fishing villages fringed with rorbuer, the distinctive cabins on stilts where fishermen used to stay during the winter season. One such village is Ballstad, the first place to rent fishermen’s cabins to visitors, just 10 minutes’ drive from Leknes.
On the way, you pass the “dragon style” Buksnes Church before continuing through rolling farmland backed with soaring mountains.

Vestvågøy is a showcase of some of Lofoten’s “greatest hits”: Himmeltinden, the highest mountain; Haukland Beach, voted by Norwegians the Most Beautiful Place in Norway; and Uttakleiv, chosen by The Times newspaper as Europe’s Most Romantic Beach.
You will have the chance to marvel at all of these and more on this panoramic tour.
