Destination: Lofoten

As the longest-running guide company in the islands, Arctic Guide Service has been making Lofoten holidays memorable since 2001.

We have been the Hurtigruten’s guide service of choice here for the last 15 years. In fact, since expanding to Tromsø and North Cape, we can be your perfect host for the entire Arctic region.

For groups of all sizes

We cater to groups of all sizes, from the biggest cruise ships to private bus groups, to families and individuals. Whether the stay is for a few hours, a whole day or several days, we provide expert guides in several languages. We are a year-round service.

A season for everyone

The Gulf Stream keeps Lofoten’s harbours ice-free, and gives the islands a relatively mild winter climate, so it’s an ideal way for the adventurous to experience the northern lights, or just to savour the special atmosphere that is winter in the Arctic. But winter is not the only chance to see the aurora. After the high season in summer, September and October can provide perfect conditions for viewing the northern lights, a heavenly version of the autumn colours covering the mountainsides.

Customised tours

We offer a range of popular tours of varying lengths to all parts of the islands, but we can also customise a tour based around your specific interests and needs. Lofoten is perhaps best known for its stunning and surprisingly varied landscapes, with everything from dramatic mountains to white sand beaches. But the islands have so much more to offer.

Animals, museums, hiking

A nature safari is the perfect way to meet some of the other “locals”, like sea eagles or harbour seals. The various museums will take you back in time, to the harsh conditions of the winter cod fishery, or even further back to the era of the Vikings. There is a rich cultural life in Lofoten, with galleries and music festivals in the picturesque fishing villages. Hiking or an excursion by sea can allow visitors to experience the islands from a unique perspective. If accommodation, meals, and attractions need to be booked, we are happy to take care of this on your behalf.
