The largest island in Lofoten, Vestvågøy’s widely varied landscapes offer a little of everything. White sand beaches, fairytale mountains, lush farmland, mountain passes with stunning views, and fishing villages fringed with rorbuer, the distinctive cabins on stilts where fishermen used to stay during the winter season. One such village is Stamsund. On the way, you stop at Einangen viewpoint, with stunning views on both sides. After Stamsund, there is another beautiful panoramic viewpoint at Hagskaret.
The trip continues through rolling farmland backed with soaring mountains. Saving the best till last, your final panoramic viewpoint is on the old road above the village of Unstad, a small farming village nestled among green fields in a classic, U-shaped glacial valley, with the Norwegian Sea stretching to the horizon beyond. Simply magical!
