Bird Reserve of Gjesværstappan

Book tourBook tour

This tour is a sure hit for bird watchers and is strongly geared towards nature.

Situated North West of the island of Magerøya, the bird reserve of Gjesværstappan is home to the 2nd largest puffin colony in Norway. From May to August, razorbills, gannets, kittiwakes, cormorants and guillemots lead a busy life; they nest, dive, fish, breed and give life to a new generation. White-tailed sea eagles are usually visible too.

This tour starts in Honningsvåg where you will meet the guide and the driver who will take you across the island to the old settlement of Gjesvær. There, you will get onto a repurposed fishing vessel that will sail very close to various bird cliffs, surrounded by swarms of birds.
